Rack-and-Pinion Steering

Rack-and-Pinion Steering

from 35.99

This model demonstrates, with transparent acrylic parts, how a typical rack-and-pinion steering mechanism works. The steering wheel is connected to a small round pinion gear, which engages with a long, straight rack gear (hence the name rack-and-pinion). When the pinion gear turns, the rack gear slides back and forth, which in turns pivots a pair of steering arms, one on each side.

This core of this model is included in the Radial Engine Car model.
