This is a fully functional battery-powered clock that tells time (using a single AA battery, included). The watch hands (hours, minutes, and seconds) each have their own dials, allowing the gears to be spread out horizontally. This lets you see each gear individually and understand how the whole gear chain works together to create the 60-to-1 gear ratio between the second and minute hands, and the 12-to-1 ratio between the minute and hour hands.
