Book and Kit Gift Sets

I’ve always liked the book-and-kit combinations you often find in bookstores, especially around Christmas time. Since my publisher has not yet created any such combos for me, I’ve decided to do it myself!

Each of the gift sets includes a copy of one of my books, either How Things Work or Engines, plus one of the kits featured on this site. I’ve designed a cardboard filler that adapts the shape of the kit box to the shape of the book, so the two make a neat rectangular package, which we gift-wrap in custom printed wrapping paper.

As with any book you buy from my site, all books are autographed, and you can request a custom inscription for me to write along with my signature.

If you want to pick your own combo, use the first product listing below, which has pop-up menus to choose which book and which kit you want. If that’s too much choice for you, I’ve put four of my favorite combinations below: the Engines book with either an internal combustion engine or a steam engine, and the How Things Work book with either a combination or key lock. These are my four favorite kits, combined with the book where the mechanisms they model is described.
